Webmail adds ease and swiftness to doing business online. Webmail allows you to send and receive emails from a web browser, instead of the most commonly understood way, i.e, an email client. This means, no matter where you are, you can quickly and easily send and receive emails with Webmail, making doing business online much easier.
What is Webmail?

Webmail allows users to access email services or accounts through web browsers. It’s a quick alternative to email clients—a third-party software application for accessing and managing email accounts.
Popular webmail services include Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Outlook.com, and others. Users log in to their email accounts through a web interface provided by the email service provider. This allows them to send and receive emails, manage contacts, organize messages into folders, and perform other email-related tasks.
Webmail is convenient because it eliminates the need for users to install and configure email client software on their devices. It also provides the flexibility to access emails from different locations and devices, making it a popular choice for many users.
Webmail software like RoundCube, Thunderbird, Horde, SquirrelMail, and others allow users to access and manage their domain email accounts from an easy-to-use web interface.
How to Use Webmail?
To use Webmail, all you need to do is connect to the internet and log in to your webmail’s server provider and log in to a website that directly connects you to your email account. When you login to webmail to send and receive emails you’re directly accessing your email account from the webmail service provider. For example, if you use cpanelresellerwebhosting Webmail, you access your email account directly through cpanelresellerwebhosting server.
The email remains on the webmail service provider’s server. This means in case you cannot connect to the internet or for any reason the server is down you may not be able to access the email. Basically, as long as you have internet and the server is up you can always access Webmail from anywhere in the world.
Steps for Logging into Webmail
The steps below will show you how to login to webmail. In this example, we are assuming the email address you want to check is user@example.com
- There are a few different URLS that access your webmail:
example.com/webmail
webmail.example.com
example.com:2096
While example.com/webmail is the standard choice, the other options are available if the first one does not reach your webmail login due to a DNS error, firewall, or redirect. Be sure to replace example.com with your actual domain name. - Enter your username and password, and then click OK.
User Name: Enter your full email address, all lower case
Password: Enter your email address’ password - You should now be logged in! Click on one of the three webmail clients and get started using your email!
How to Log into Webmail from cPanel
You can also log into webmail via the convenient cPanel interface.
- Log into cPanel
- Click Email Accounts
- Find the email account you want to check and click Check Email
Choose a Webmail Client

If you have already chosen a default webmail application, you’ll be able to login to webmail straight away. But if you haven’t selected one yet, now’s your chance. We offer two options for webmail that are built into your account, and each individual email user can choose which webmail client they want to use: Roundcube or Horde.
- Roundcube: As our most popular webmail client, it has the look and feel you’d expect from an email application, but is available inside a browser. You can import and use an address book and use IMAP folders with the drag-and-drop organization. When composing emails, you can set up preset responses to save time, and write with spell check in a rich text html composer.
- Horde: It’s more than just a webmail client—it’s a collection of simple online apps for collaboration including webmail, calendar, notes, and tasks. These extra features do have some limits, however. For example, the collaborative features only work inside Horde; so to share a calendar entry or a note, the person you’re sharing it with would also need to use Horde.
Click the Read Mail Using link under the client of your choice to login to webmail. Or, if you already know which client you want to use by default, click Enable AutoLoad.
The Webmail Software Advantages
Using webmail software comes with some tremendous benefits. Let’s take a look at some:
Using webmail software comes with several advantages that make it a popular choice for many users. Here are some key advantages:
- Accessibility: Webmail is accessible from any device with an internet connection and a web browser. This flexibility allows users to check and manage their emails from smartphones, tablets, laptops, or any computer with internet access.
- No Installation Required: Unlike traditional email clients that need to be installed on a device, webmail requires no installation. Users can simply log in to their email accounts through a web browser, eliminating the need for software downloads and configurations.
- Easy Setup: Creating a webmail account is generally a straightforward process. Users can sign up for an account quickly, and the webmail service provider often guides them through the setup process, making it user-friendly.
- Automatic Updates: Webmail services are hosted on servers managed by the service provider. This means that updates and maintenance are handled on the server side, and users don’t need to worry about manually updating their email software.
- Cross-Platform Compatibility: Webmail is compatible with various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Users can switch between devices and operating systems seamlessly without compatibility issues.
- Integration with Other Services: Many webmail services integrate seamlessly with other online services. For example, Google’s Gmail integrates with Google Drive, Calendar, and other Google services. This interconnectedness enhances productivity and collaboration.
- Spam Filtering: Webmail providers often employ advanced spam filters to automatically detect and filter out unwanted emails. This helps keep inboxes clean and reduces the risk of falling victim to phishing or malicious emails.
- Generous Storage: Webmail services typically offer a significant amount of storage space for emails, attachments, and other data. This is advantageous for users who receive a large volume of emails or need to store important attachments.
- Backup and Recovery: Since the email data is stored on the provider’s servers, there’s a level of built-in backup and recovery. Even if a device is lost or damaged, the emails are still accessible by logging in to the webmail account from another device.
- Collaboration Features: Some webmail services provide collaboration features, allowing users to share calendars, documents, and collaborate on projects within the email platform.
